INTRODUCING WULFO!

The Santa Rosa Zine Fest a few weeks ago lit a fire to create some zines that I could really believe in.
Also, teaching comic classes to Elementary and Middle School kids.
I needed a thing - a character - to use as an example for drawing and story telling and all kinds of things.

Thus, Wülfo was born. (apologies for no umlauts in the title - the text formatting and I fought over it, and I lost.)

Wülfo and his buddy Sküll are having adventures, and you can follow them RIGHT HERE.

I’m doing these on a single sheet of bristol board in the very old school and traditional way of blue line pencils, with inks on top, and with hand-cut screen tone on top of that. It is so dang satisfying. It takes a while, but compared to the scritch-scratch of the nib pen pages that are angrily waiting for me on the drawing table to my left… it’s a breeze!

Here’s what a finished page looks like before I color the cover and clean up / edit some squirrley bits on the computer:

I hope you enjoy.

Stay tuned for issue 4, and for the great potential for physical copies showing up in a place near you!
